I Have (Mostly) Caught Up!

Good news! I have indeed caught up on everything I wanted to catch up on. Letters to Home is written and scheduled - the last folio going up in November. Several of the letters span two or more folios. It seems we get up to a lot of nonsense during our Dungeons and Dragons sessions! There was a lot to relay to Taby’s mum. We’ve been unable to meet to play another session, and won’t be until after August is over. Though that makes me sad (I’ve come to really enjoy the sessions), I have plenty of leeway when it comes to relaying to adventures to my Ko-Fi subscribers. There should be no interruption of letters to them.

I hope they’re enjoying the story. It’s been a very fun exercise to write those letters.

Depending on how things go, I would very much like to do an audio version. I’d put that one up on my personal YouTube/other streaming services rather than through Overdue Books, just because it is technically a Wizards of the Coast IP, and I don’t want to get Overdue Books into any kind of trouble. Wizards of the Coast seem to have forgotten the word community and have gotten quite litigious in recent times. I don’t want that smoke on my book stuff, and I think my losing my personal YouTube channel wouldn’t be as great a loss if it came to that.

It’s very much in the ‘would like to do if I ever have the time’ category, so I doubt any of us will have to worry too much about it any time soon. Sadly.

As of the writing of this blog post, I’ve also begun the Dramatis Personae for the special edition of The Timbercreek Incident. I’ve gone a little beyond just listing the names, and provided a bit of back story (none of which would be a spoiler for anyone, if they’ve read the story already) on each character. Doing so has made me realise that it’ll take a little longer to get this done than I had anticipated. There’s a lot that I neglected to write down, so I’ve got to go back over the book and gather the names of everyone, and of all the associated groupings. This may include some surnames of folks I rarely if ever mention in the book… or given names, for that matter. Do I know Master Sergeant Berkley’s first name? I did once. Did I ever use it in the book? I don’t think I did. Do I remember where I stashed all my notes for the story? Jokes on you, I made it up as I went along. I didn’t keep notes that detailed…

Joke’s on me, I guess.

I do make my own life quite difficult for myself sometimes.

Anyway, to date, I’ve just finished the “Independent Actors” section, so there are now entries for Agent Sebastian Connors, Lilith Liu, Operations Officer Scott Harvey Warner, Master Sergeant Berkley (who still needs a first name in the entry) and Communications Officer Mel (who needs a surname in the entry… I don’t think I gave her one at all, so I can just make that one up).

I might shuffle the groupings around as well, just to see if another configuration makes more logical sense. For now, though, I just want to get everything down.

I think I mentioned in a Ko-Fi exclusive blog post that I finished the research paper portion of the extras for the special edition. Do I remember where I put that? I do not. I was written by hand, so it is on several pieces of paper that have been folded and put… somewhere. There is a very high chance that I have to rewrite the entire thing. This is one thing I did write notes on (because I had to do a fair amount of research into viral delivery systems). Do I know where I put those notes? Uh… no. They’re… somewhere. Probably with the hand-written report.

I really do make my life difficult for myself.

Anyway, I’m really excited about getting a proper start on the extras. I have to come up with sketches for the bestiary (I have a fun idea about the formatting of that one). And then one more thing that I want to do, but am keeping a secret from everyone except my formatter (when it comes time. It’ll be some weeks yet).

This heading to the library after work to, uh, work, was a good idea. It appears to be working. At least for now.

Alright, I have to head home now. Let’s hope I don’t get swept up in that tornado the early warning system just alerted my phone to.
