Good morning, Readers!
You might have seen that The Timbercreek Incident is now out in the world. Yay! I did not end up hosting any kind of launch party for it. I was struggling to find time to do all the logistics required for a release.
And, if I’m being totally honest, I was terribly afraid that no one would show up for it; not a physical release party, and not one held online. With the one year anniversary of Galahad’s death not long behind me, I’m in too delicate a space to handle the disappointment of celebrating an achievement and having no one show up.
Silly, probably, but true.
So, a couple of things about The Timbercreek Incident:
The first, and probably most important, is that you can get it for free if you want. Both the listing on itch.io and the ko-fi shop listing has a “for a donation” option enabled. But you don’t have to pay anything if you don’t want. Free is an option. Please don’t feel bad if you get it for free.
The second is that if you have bought it, and you have a moment to, please leave a review. It helps. I’m not sure which algorithm it helps, because it’s not available on Amazon - Amazon treats its authors badly, its workers worse, and is involved with some wildly unsavoury politicking, so I don’t want a single cent from my works supporting them. There are other options, so let’s use them. Anyway, the point is, a review would be very helpful.
And now a quick note on what’s happening next.
I’ve decided not to seek representation or a new publisher. So, I will be serialising everything on my Ko-Fi. Subscribers will be able to get all my works, both future and previous, as a weekly serial on here. After that, they will be prepped for regular publication.
I know this is basically handicapping me. Getting into bookshops will be next to impossible. That’s fine. I’d rather provide for my subscribers here, in any case.
The first book to be serialised will be The Lioness of Shara Mountain. This book was to be published by Renaissance Press in February of this year, then it was pushed to February of next year. Then Renaissance Press announced it was shutting down.
So.
The book has no home, and I’m not willing to wait another four or so years trying to shop the manuscript around. It will be published here on Ko-Fi as a serial, then packaged for publication.
This is start the first Friday of January next year, and every Friday after that, until it’s complete. I will not be putting this one up on Wattpad, as I did with The Timbercreek Incident. You can either read it here, with a subscription, or wait a couple of years as I prep the book for publication. You can buy it then.
If you think you can spare a dollar a month (Canadian), then please sigh up. You get free stories! And other perks, too.
Alright, I have to write the monthly report for my subscribers. I’m off!
Slán go foill!
