The Timbercreek Incident Now Has a Cover!

Published on 1 April 2026 at 08:00

Good morning, Readers!

The Ko-Fi subscribers already know this, but the general public does not, so they're having to get this blog post to tell them something they already know. Luckily, they get it early so won't be reading this. The Timbercreek Incident has a cover at long last!

It's been quite the endeavour, and it was created with close consultation to the Starlings (my Ko-Fi subscribers), so I would be absolutely remiss for not crediting and thanking them profusely for their honesty and suggestions. Honestly, I couldn't do it without you, and I'm so, so grateful to each and every one of you.

The book itself is still in the formatting/editing phase. It should be just the formatting phase, but god damn it, I keep finding small typos and things that need changing. Can we all just spare a thought for my poor formatter who has been incredibly forbearing through it all. Incidentally, if you're looking for a skilled interior formatter for your book, can let me heartily recommend Eric from JenEric Designs layout services. Their rates are reasonable, and they are really wonderful to work with.

In anticipation of the final interior being done relatively soon, I have started the marketing for this book.

I just realised that I have forgotten to put the imprint logo thingy at the end of the two short videos I've done so far. Bugger it. Oh well. I'll try to remember to add it from this point forward. And here I was being all proud of myself for getting on top of the marketing stuff this time around. Le sigh.

Anyway, I've blabbed on enough. Here is the book cover:

I'm still not sure about the rat. I did it myself and it feels... amateurish. I may put a filter or two over it yet, but the cover will not change in substance at all. This is pretty much it.

There are a number of things that still need doing. Writing up a proper back blurb, and creating space for it on my websites are top priority for the online stuff.

The review of the interior formatting and also the last (better be last, damn it) of the interior changes should be happening soon. The eBook should be ready to go in a little while. The physical copy will take a little longer - there's the creation of the full cover, for one. Then I have to order the various samples from the various print on demand companies.

So I'm not sure how to handle this rollout, precisely. The eBook will be pay what you want (as it remains free to read on Wattpad and on my website), and once that goes live I'll also start the pre-orders for the physical copies. I think three months is a good enough lead time for it. I am anxious to get it out into the world, but I don't want to rush it and put out an inferior book.

So... that's the exciting news I have this week. We are inching ever closer to release. Yay!

Right, I have a lot of work to be getting on with. I must dash.

Slán go foill!
