Good morning, Starlings!
I have awesome friends. I know I say this a lot, but it remains very true. Not only are they just great folks to be around, actively making my life better, they also make the world better.
One such friend is Melanie. I met her through work, and she’s such a bright light. I can’t tell you the ways she’s helped me cope with *waves vaguely at everything.*
Anyway, she’s doing really incredible things to make the world a better place to live for folks. In this case, doing what she can to make sure folks can live in the world.
Melanie is raising funds for the Cancer Society for the month of February… with exercise! With her permission, I’m giving her a little boost with this week’s blog post.
She’s doing this in honour of her friend, David, whom I met a couple of times and was a lovely man. I’ll let her explain in her own words:
“I'm participating in an amazing fundraising event and I would love your support.
Cancer has touched so many of us, and it has especially altered my life deeply in the last year. It has affected so many close family and friends over the years, and last January it took the life of my best friend, David PJ Smith. I would like to do my part to help fight this disease in any way I can.
It's my goal to raise as much as I can for this incredible cause and I’m asking for your help. I will be doing 100 squats each day in February. Please sponsor me by making a tax-deductible donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. It’s fast and easy to do, and so many will benefit from your generosity.
Thank you for your support! Together we can make a difference.”
If you have a couple of extra bucks to sponsor this endeavour, please, sponsor Melanie’s quest to rid the world of cancer… and get killer thighs! It needn’t be much. You can do so at her fund-raising page here.
Like I said, I have incredible people in my life. I’m so impressed and proud that Melanie is doing this, and I’m hoping it becomes a raging success.
Alright, I have to get back to work.
Slán go foill!
