Nearly There!

Good morning, Readers!

Things are chugging along pretty well. I'm restarting one of the book covers for The Timbercreek Incident. For those who are stumbling on this for the first time, as my Ko-Fi is relatively new, and I'm trying to find ways to create value for my subscribers while working two jobs (for now) and trying to get my writing off the ground and hopefully in place to support my modest life financially, I have decided that the subscribers here will have access to subscriber-exclusive editions of my books.

To that end, I'm creating two book covers for my upcoming book for the Starlings (subscribers) to vote on. I finished one near the beginning of February that, with lots of input and help from my subscribers (seriously, thank you!), I quite like. The other one I had created I don't like so much, so I'm redoing it.

The vote to choose which will be the regular edition, and which will be the subscriber-exclusive edition, will hopefully be happening at the end of the month. I do hope to come up with a cover I like well enough by then. And then... well... then I get to publish the book!

I'm contemplating just releasing the eBook first, with the paperback to follow. It will allow me to use whatever I earn from the digital sales to put towards the paperback release. The more I think on it, though, I think that I won't do that. I'm not sure.

I would like to return to my previous pre-traditional publishing release date of Hallowe'en in any given year, and given that this book is a zombie-adjacent story, that would be particularly appropriate. I think maybe that I'll attempt to do that in the following few years, and just focus on getting my books out.

Maybe I can convince Can*Con to do a joint release party with other authors. Can*Con is mid-October-ish, and so closer to my usual publication date. It'll almost be the same thing. Sort of.

With The Timbercreek Incident largely taken care of, I can turn my mind to my other books; both currently being written and those previously published.

My other self-published books are going to be ported over to my new personal imprint Overdue Books. The Dying God & Other Stories is already moved over. It's all the other ones that I need to get sorted. I think I'll start with Ethan Cadfael: The Battle Prince. It's fun, set largely in Ottawa, and with direct mentions of Hallowe'en, that'll be good to release on the usual date. If I'm really good about it, I might be able to release it this year, meaning I'll have two published books this year, which makes for a nice change of pace. It's been so long since I've published in physical copy anything I've written.

I'm super excited to hold a book I've written in my hands again! Ugh. And now I have to temper this excitement so I can concentrate on doing the work that pays the bills (for now).

The too long, didn't read is that it is looking like The Timbercreek Incident will be published Q2 this year, and I'll be republishing another book probably in Q4 from my old published titles.

And I'm super thrilled about it!

Slán go foill!
