The Timbercreek Incident on Wattpad

Good morning, Readers!

So... Hey! As of Monday just past, the entirety of The Timbercreek Incident is now uploaded to Wattpad and available to read in full. For free. It will remain that way, though I am going ahead with creating and ebook and paperback to sell (and by sell I mean that, because the book is already online free to read, I'll be offering the ebook as a pay what you want thing on every platform that supports that).

As an experiment, I have to say, I don't know what to make of it. I didn't get much interaction on the story, which I think is normal, considering that I've not been all that active on the site myself.

As of roughly an hour after the last chapter posted, it had 149 reads, which doesn't feel all that much, but was waaaaay more than I was expecting. Though there wasn't much interaction with the story, the number of reads is quite surprising since no one knows I'm on there, really. For an ice cold release, I think 149 reads is a perfectly respectable.

Wattpad also displays rankings on stories, and I have to say, I was really surprised as week to week, The Timbercreek Incident tended to hover around 10th in the Epidemic category. It debuted around 23rd, if I remember rightly, and did dip down to 36th at one point, but was generally hovering around 10th.

It very rarely made an appearance in any other category, but roughly an hour after the last chapter posted, it earned a spot in the Survival category.

When I saw the number and also saw that it was labelled as my "most impressive" ranking, I raised an eyebrow. And then I noticed the out of number and holy hell! 324th out of more that 58 000 stories is nothing to be sniffed at. That is indeed quite impressive.

And I managed to crack into the top five epidemic stories.

So, all told, The Timbercreek Incident did really well on Wattpad. I'm really rather proud of it.

I will be doing this again. The next upload to Wattpad will be The Bear, which I had hoped to have completed already, and ready to start putting up early next year. That is not going to happen, but I do intend to get this story done, and will put it up on Wattpad.

However, my ko-fi subscribers will be getting it first. So it will be going up here on ko-fi first, and will be following on my website, though they'll be a month behind the subscribers. Only after the whole thing has been shared with the subscribers first will it be uploaded to Wattpad.

I wonder if it'll perform better than The Timbercreek Incident. It will be interesting to do a comparison, if I haven't gotten so frustrated by the whole publishing situation that I give up trying to be a writer (in which case, you can all lock me away in the looney bin, because the unexpressed stories will be driving me batty).

Anyway, I'm happy with The Timbercreek Incident on Wattpad. I will be putting another story up on the site. For now, though, I have to got back to trying to create the next book cover for the subscribers to vote on.

You know, after the office job.

Slán go foill!
