Oh, for Frak's Sake! A Rebuttal

Late last week I read THIS article by Mr. J.A. Konrath.  And I shook my head.  All I managed to glean from the article was that Mr. Konrath really, really, really hates publishers.

He throws around some pretty powerful phrases to describe traditional publishers like '...bloated and ignorant and inefficient and arrogant,' or '...bloated, lazy, ign...

No, I haven't been picked up by an agent or publisher.

:(

However, I got word last week that the Masters programme at the University of Ottawa I was interested in has been approved for government funding, meaning it's going ahead.  Yay!  I have also gotten word from work that I will be able to attend university part time and keep my job.  Huzzah!

The programme is entitled World Literatures and Cultures, and I'm very exc...

Those of you who attended ComiCon and swung by for a visit could not have failed to see the incredible artwork of R.J. Buelow on display at the table immediately to the left of my own table.  If you didn't attend ComiCon and didn't get to see this man's incredible art, I strongly suggest you click HERE and check out his deviant ART page.

I didn't get to speak much with him for some reason (I also didn't do an...

Ottawa ComiCon, The Neighbours - Ran Brown

I was extremely fortunate at ComiCon to be seated between two very talented artists.  On my immediate right, technically sharing my table (though the tables were large enough it didn't really feel like it), was Ran Brown and her husband Cory.  This awesome duo (you thought I was going to say 'dynamic,' didn't you?) happen to also be the artist/writer combo responsible for The End - a free web comic that updates twice a week.

Ottawa ComiCon - Part 3

Sunday, being Mother's Day, was much less busy than Saturday had been.  It was, frankly, a welcome relief.  Saturday had been crazy.  As the crowds weren't nearly as thick, sales were not nearly as good.  I didn't care at this point.  I'd already made the rental of the table back, and it was lovely to have more time to chat with people.

I saw another one of my Kung Fu brothers, and he bought a book from me.  Did I mention that I love my Kung Fu ...

Ottawa ComiCon, Part 2

I had planned to wake up early on the morning of the 12th and go for a run.  That didn't happen.  I staggered out of bed with enough time to get dressed, pack food and make breakfast before we took off for the C.E. Centre.  We were supposed to pick up our friend A.L. and her cousin, but they were not even out of bed by the time we got going.  They made their way there on their own.

We arrived, despite the late start, right on time at around 9:15.  We...

Ottawa ComiCon, Part 1

Well, I did it!

Not only did I survive, but I had a mountain of fun doing it!  Not only were there a tonne of very cool costumes to geek out over, but people were open and friendly and definitely having a great time.  Even cooler yet, we were seated next to some very talented artists.  I'll be blogging about them each in a separate blog post on Thursday and Friday.  For now, in order to keep the length of my posts down, I'll be tackling a day a post.
