This weekend was a mixed bag of things. I was made upset about the prospect of some of my martial arts classes being cut, due to a lack of registrants. I think one can be saved, but I'm not sure about the other. It made me incredibly sad, as I love teaching these classes; kung fu is a particularly fun one for me, because we get to play with weapons. Swords are fun.
Feeling depressed, I went to dinner with friends as sort of belated birthday get-together with them. They gave me the same wonderful gift I get every year - a David's Tea Advent Calendar. I really enjoy these, and I'm so happy I have a reliable source! Yesterday's tea was Gingerbread Chai, and it was delicious.
I don't like receiving gifts, really, but I do appreciate them! On the gift-giving note, they also got me a Christmas present, the brats, which I of course opened when I got home, because Christmas is too far away to wait.
Boy was I glad I did. They gave me the most stunning book; a signed, illustrated, limited edition book of the folklore of the British Isles. This book is absolutely stunning. It's such a beautiful piece, it will be going in my touch and you die collection. I was so astounded by the gift, that I cried a little bit. It was the exact right thing to pick me up after the sad news.
Saturday, I taught the last classes of the semester, then slept like the dead.
Sunday, the Amazing Flatmate returned from her adventures. There was a welcoming dinner at her father's place, which was wonderful. It's nice having her home, but no one is more grateful than Persephone, who has missed her chosen human like mad.
Things feel better today than they have in a while, and I'm grateful for that.
And now, I have to hustle. This completed blog post marks the first of the tasks I can cross off my to-do list. I now have to get to the others. Wish me luck!
Ciao!
