Saturday was C.O.N. - a fabulous market full of geeky things. It was a cool, rainy day, as is C.O.N. tradition, and it was awesome. So many lovely people came out to join us in raising funds for the Ottawa Food Bank, including friends I hadn't seen in a long time (thanks for coming out, guys!). I also got to see Cait again, whom I met at Ottawa ComicCon. That's the wonderful Cat who wrote this lovely blog post immediately following Ottawa ComicCon. I'm very pleased to note that she is joining the roster of authors at Renaissance Press. It was great seeing her again, so I could congratulate her in person.
I was seated in the same area as Renaissance Press and JenEric Designs, which is always a good time. They're such lovely folk. JenEric Designs have come out with a new flavoured coffee, and it's frakkin' delicious!
Speaking of delicious things, my friend Rob Olsen had a table at C.O.N. selling tea. His brand new company Heart Tea Heart was selling amazing loose leaf teas. Rob also kept us supplied with samples throughout the day.
I have found my new favourite tea. It's called Knights of Avalon (because of course it is), and it is delicious! I bought myself a packet immediately after tasting the sample Rob handed out.
He's not a fool, that Rob.
Strangely (for me) my art far outsold my books. I received a lot of compliments on the artwork, actually, and that made me incredibly happy. I'm really glad people liked my art.
Lovely as C.O.N. was, I was really very exhausted when I got home, so I decided to take a quick nap. Four hours later, I woke up from that nap, and then cursed myself. I had plans to scrub the house down, you see. My kung fu brother Jon was coming over to play some Borderlands for our segment CoOpted on Silver Stag Entertainment's YouTube channel (subscribe here!).
I did manage to get the living room and dining room cleaned before midnight rolled around. I was too exhausted to do the entrance or kitchen, so I figured I would get up early and do them before Jon comes over.
I got the entrance done...
Ahem.
That's okay. I forbade Jon from going anywhere near the kitchen. We played for about two hours (that's four episodes) and had a blast. Jon is one of the loveliest people you'll ever meet. He really is a genuinely awesome dude, and is a lot of fun to game with. I always enjoy his company. Added bonus: he brought me coffee.
I resolved to clean the kitchen after Jon left, but I didn't. Instead I edited a bunch of videos. So, at least I was still productive.
All in all, it was a fantastic weekend.
Now I'm off to do more work.
Ciao!
