The Untamed Who's Who: Wen Ning and Wen Qing

Good morning, Readers!

Yes, I'm still doing this. It's not long now until the recaps begin.

Wen Ning

Wen Ning is what we in the West would call 'touched.' He was affected by supernatural forces when he was just a small boy, and was thereafter cared for by his sister, who does everything for him.

He is absolutely one of the sweetest characters in this thing. Aligned Chaotic Good, Wen Ning makes close friends with Wei Wuxian, despite his sister's warnings, and he remains fiercely loyal to him, even going so far as to defy the patriarch of the Wen Clan - his own clan - to help Wei Wuxian.

He remains Wei Wuxian's faithful servant, and when he is himself, is so very sweet.

When he is not himself, he's a terror. They call him The Ghost General.

Wen Qing
Wen Ning's sister and caretaker, Wen Qing begins the series working for the patriarch of her clan. But Wen Qing is a doctor, and as a physician, she holds to the ideals of helping those who need it, though it definitely breaks the rules.

I'd say she's Neutral Good, but her disregard for the rules and her determination to save her brother make her closer to Chaotic Good, I think (though nowhere near as Chaotic as Wei Wuxian).

Because of this, her brother convinces her to care for Wei Wuxian and his siblings despite them all being wanted as fugitives by the Wen Clan. Moreover, she helps Wei Wuxian to restore his brother's power (though not without protest, and for good reason, but I won't spoil that here).

In the end, she ends up following Wei Wuxian into exile for a time. There, they form a close bond - not least of all because they're raising an orphaned boy together - but it never becomes romantic. Which, I mean... she is competing with Lan Zhan, so...

Ultimately, because of the contrivances of evil people seeking power and revenge, Wen Qing's story ends in tragedy.
