November is my birthday month. I would appreciate it if you would help me celebrate by spreading some light in the world. Join my Have a Heart Campaign team on Kiva, or find a charity that speaks to you and donate.

Good morning, Readers!
Picture
This great piece is by deviantart.com user JG1723. They've got other really great pieces up and you should click the picture to see them.
I'm in a great mood this morning.  Sunday was a fantastic day, in which I did nothing but laundry, sleep, watch YouTube, play a little God of War and FINALLY defeated Sigrun (which is the real reason for my great mood, let's be honest, and the reason for today's blog post title... you have no idea how accomplished I felt), spoke with my mum, had a shower, and then went to bed.

It was the first Sunday in a little bit when I had only minimal things to do, and I did them (laundry! Yay clean clothes!), and also relaxed the rest of the day.  This was sorely needed.  I feel rested, which is huge.  It's been a long time since I've felt well-rested.

This morning, I found it fairly easy to wake up and head to the gym to work out.  There has been some significant improvement already.  For starters, there is very little pain in my left arm this time around.  I might be finally starting to heal whatever was going on there.  That's a great thing, though it has revealed how much weaker my left arm is compared to my right.  The damage done to my strength on that side from the almost year-long injury is insane.  It's also holding back my over all strength, since my right side progress is practically ignored while I try and catch my left side up.

It's frustrating, but today I was able to laugh about it, as I struggled to curl a mere 17.5lbs with my left arm, while my right barely felt the weight at all.  Long gone are the days of 35lbs.  Le sigh.  But I'll get there again.

For my birthday, in addition to two PS4 games, I bought myself a weighted skipping rope.  Is it weird that I'm excited to give them a whirl tomorrow?  I did the first week of skipping (one minute intervals for 30 minutes) with a regular rope, and found it stupid easy.  I'm expecting tomorrow to be a lot rougher.

Also, I know I'm a writer, so this work-out talk is probably boring you all to death, but I do find it interesting, not especially since I think physical activity is super important, particularly for writers, since so much of our occupation is so very sedentary.  Also, also, I write a lot of badass women, and I feel kinda left out.  I wanna be a badass woman, too.

Anyway.... In other life news, I should be viewing my next tattoo design soon.  I hope I like it, and there's not too much back and forth before the appointment to have it done is booked.  I'm getting antsy.

Today, on my workout playlist, I got a huge nostalgia bolt (warning: clip contains the voice of a dead person):
Yothu Yindi, and indigenous Australian group, was the the soundtrack of my early years in Australia.  It was them, John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes.  I really loved Yothu Yindi's music, still do, and I credit them with helping me develop my love for folk music fusions.  I adore "western" styles of music that use the traditional instruments of other cultures by groups in that culture.  It's why I'm in love with Bloodywood, a fantastic metal band from India (think old-school Linkin Park, but, like, Indian), and Arkona (a folk-metal band from Russia).  Recently, a friend sent me a song called 'Wolf Totem' which is by a group called The Hu.  Get it?  The Hu!  They're a Mongolian group and they're fantastic.  There's a song called 'Oracle' by Timmy Trumpet (stage name, obvs) which is an old-school 90s dance thingy, which uses traditional Irish songs, and it's great.

Are there any groups you reckon I should look into?  I'm always up for new music, particularly fusions.

Right, I have writing to get to today.  How was your weekend?  What are your plans today?  Let me know below.

Ciao!

Thanks for the musical tips. I ran across Yothu Yindi when I was doing my radio show, and listened to Bloodywood when you posted something about it. I'll check out the other suggestions.

Congrats on accomplishing so much!

Enjoy! And thanks! Some days laundry is a massive accomplishment.
