Ahem.
I haven't attached a photo of the interior because I'm not ready to give any part of the story away, but it looks amazing. Unbelievably amazing. I am in love with the interior.
For all of you thinking that this is a weird thing to be banging on about, I suppose you're right. I mean, I've published four books already. And I've read extensively. I should know what the interior of a book looks like.
I do, for the record, but I've never managed to do it myself; make a book look proper on the inside. It takes a whole lot of know-how I simply do not have. So, this time around, I acquired the services of a layout artist.
Worth it!
Disclaimer: I am the first client of this artist, He is a good friend. He does layout stuff for the Canadian government all the time (I think? I might be making that up), so he's more than qualified to handle a book.
Look, self-pubbers who aren't handy with Word beyond basic formatting, I cannot stress enough how awesome it is to have a layout arts worry about all the stuff for you. It certainly lifted a huge amount of stress from my shoulders.
And he was very professional the entire time.
I was consulted every step of the way. My opinions were sought and, most importantly, listened to. All of my questions were answered well. Eric clearly knows his stuff. I clearly do not. Regardless, I felt included in all decisions, which is hugely important for a self-publisher. When I received the final product, it was absolutely gorgeous.
Admittedly, I was surprised how much of a difference having someone who knew what they were doing take care of the layout, but it does. It makes a huge, huge, huge difference.
I had a really great experience working with Eric, and I intend to hire him on for all of my future layout needs. I cannot recommend him enough.

I'm super excited to show off this book! I can't wait for publication day!
Right now, however, I have to get breakfast and get going with my Welsh lessons.
Ciao!
